Palais Royal

On this day I chose to shoot at Palais Royal. Inspired by Nick Turpin's street photography workshop, I decided to put one of his tips into practice. In his lesson, the photographer advised beginners to choose a location and stay there for a long time. With this approach, we have a much better chance of understanding our surroundings and how people interact with them in order to anticipate a good shot. If we're constantly on the move (which is what I've always done before), we'll just have to rely on luck.

I spent maybe two hours walking around the garden, talking to people or just sitting in the sun. And it was one of the most fruitful days for me in terms of good shots. For the first time, I took a lot of successful street portraits with the models' permission. But more about that next time.
