Under the fontaine

On this day I had planned to take some photos at St. Lazare Station. Since I've been interested in photography I always wanted to go back there, because a couple of years ago I saw that at certain times of the day the sun leaves very clear shadows of people passing by on the wall, thus creating a kind of shadow theater. Unfortunately, despite the sunny weather I did not choose the right time of day, so I'll save this story for another time.

Without a clear plan, I headed toward the Eastern train station, hoping to stumble upon an interesting scene or place like a park or cathedral square where I could continue my hunt for the beauty. The scene was found fairly quickly - beneath the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity was a drained pool of fountains that had been occupied for a picnic by young people. Under one of them a girl of about 10 was hiding from the sun. I was attracted by the shape of shade, which due to rounded edges of the fountain, took a pleasant form for my eyes. And the girl, sitting half in that shadow, was the perfect subject, filling the beautiful shape with some meaning.
