Shadows of Louvre

On this day the weather was sunny and my friends and I went out for a walk along a rather touristy route in Paris. After arriving in the Japanese quarter at Pyramide, we shopped in a Japanese supermarket, stood fruitlessly in huge lineups for Bubble Tee (I think even before Covid these lines were shorter) and moved on to the Louvre.

The sun was setting quite early and we were lucky enough to hit the golden hour before curfew.

At that point I had exhausted my creative fuse and gave the camera to Cléa. It was a very lucky decision, as she immediately noticed the long shadows of passing people playing on the wall in one of the arched aisles. She asked me to pose for a while and took this shot.

It contains almost everything that I love about B/W photography: the negative space, the bright contrasting shadows, the game of light in the lanterns. You can even spot a certain hint of narrative, referring to the two shadows on the walls (the second shadow was one of Alex, who was waiting for us in the crosswalk).

All in all, this is another photo in which I act as a model, that deserves its place in this visual blog.
